So many questions surround this topic, God. Does God exist or is God a fabrication? Is God for real or just a concept? If God does exist, then what is God’s role in our lives? If God has complete control, is that to say that God wants wars and people killing each other? Some even kill in God’s name.

Do our prayers get answered or are we praying in vain? Does God make mistakes? God created Lucifer and then kicked out a third of his angels from heaven along with Lucifer. Was Lucifer a mistake and all the angels that choose to follow Lucifer? Do we just want to believe that a supreme being really cares about us, gave us our lives’ purpose, a mission, and a destiny? God is as varied as there are people.

Many have said that God gave humans the power of choice and free will. If this is true, the consequences of our actions are ours alone. Yet, there are those who believe that God could intervene. God should take action to protect and provide for us. God should create a heaven on earth, do away with wars, disease, and poverty. God should. Well, you know what they say about shoulds…

We learn through the consequences of our decisions, choices, actions, thoughts, and beliefs. Thus, in order for us to learn and grow, God does not interfere in our lives. Add an “er” to “should” and you get “shoulder.” “Shoulds” become something we end up “shouldering,” carrying the responsibility for. If God “shouldered” our belief of what we think God “should” be doing, we rob ourselves of learning, growing, and evolving.

So, then you ask, “Is God an active participant in my life?” That would be totally up to you. God or no God, it is different for each of us. It is our mystery to discover.
